CUSTOMER REVIEWS FOR HISTORY SCOTLAND MAGAZINE
I am not sure where Reviewer "Anonymous" got his "facts " about History Scotland magazine. There are around 6 pages of advertising out of 60. Not bad I would have thought. And certainly not the one third or 20 pages that this person is claiming! All the advertising seems relevant to history and archaeology enthusiasts. History Scotland magazine is a serious publication with more in common to History Today than BBC History Magazine. It reflects the very diverse areas of research, new discoveries and events going on in Scotland. It is refreshing in this respect. I think anyone with an interest in Scottish history would really enjoy it.
This is an excellent magazine for all who are interested in Scotland. It could do with more features and less adverts though - a good third or more of the magazine is backpage advertising and there is more peppered through the articles. Compared to BBC History magazine it is poor value for money if one is looking at pages/articles per £. However, it IS focused completely on Scottish History which is quite novel with the usual 'England is the UK' attitude of most publishers and tv stations.
