The magazine itself hit the headlines recently when it was finally revealed that the brains behind the publication were two cheeky but entrepreneurial fourteen year old schoolboys.
Louis Porter and Sean Spooner felt their town had a lot to shout about, but was often overlooked by the local print media, so they decided to start a magazine of their own and make a few bucks in the process.
The dynamic-duo have since appeared on television, radio and in print, suddenly finding that they themselves are making the headlines.
Corby Magazine focuses on the town of Corby, famous for its (now closed) steelworks, a large Scottish population – seven in ten of its population are of Scots descent - and the largest Glasgow Rangers Supporters Club outside Glasgow itself.
Corby Magazine was launched in the summer of 2010 and already has readers across the globe, including the U.S., Canada and Japan, and of-course the town of Corby in the heart of the English East Midlands. Not surprisingly, it also has a growing Scottish readership!
In their first year in print, Sean and Louis have already scooped a young entrepreneur award, and discovered that they may be the youngest commercial publishers in the WORLD!
Corby’s former mayor, Councillor Mary Butcher, described the boys as ‘two inspiring young men, a shining example to other young people and a beacon of light for Corby.’
